1. Where is the Village’s Police Department located?

The Police Department is located in the Acacia Subdivision, at 201 Acacia Drive, which is just north of Joliet Road and east of Wolf Road.

2. How many police officers does the Village have?

The Police Department is staffed by a Chief of Police, a Deputy Chief, seven full-time Patrol Officers, and eleven part-time officers. The department’s staff also includes one full-time Records Clerk.

3. What are the department’s hours of operation, and how can I contact department personnel?

The police station is manned for walk-in service during the business hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. For emergencies, residents should call 911. For non-emergencies, call 708-246-4534. During non-business hours, residents can use a phone located in the Police Department vestibule to connect with Dispatch for assistance from the police.

4. How are dispatch services handled for residents of Indian Head Park?

All calls to 911 in Indian Head Park are answered by professional dispatchers who are managed and administered by the Cook County Sheriff’s E-911 Dispatch Center. 

5. Does the Village participate in a Emergency Notification System?

6. Does the Police Department handle enforcement of village codes that affect the quality of life in Indian Head Park?

Although the Police Department is primarily responsible for handling violations of village codes governing exterior areas of homes and businesses, they will respond to resident reports of perceived code violations. Residents must contact the Village at the non-emergency number at 708-246-4534 concerning perceived code violations. The police will then do an inspection and take appropriate action to correct the situation. Examples of items that are in violation of Village codes include: burning of wood, leaves, or refuse in backyards; debris/junk, such as old vehicle parts, furniture, and uncut grass/weeds left on the property; clear building defects, such as damaged, hanging gutters or damaged garage doors; garbage bags or debris thrown into the street on refuse pick-up days, commercial vehicles parked on driveways or vehicles parked on the street overnight.

7. If a solicitor comes to my door what should I do?

If you choose to answer the door, the first thing you should request is the solicitor’s permit. Companies and individuals going door to door are required to complete an application for a solicitor’s permit. If the solicitor can’t show you the permit you can let him/her know that the Village requires a permit. You can then contact the non-emergency Police Department at 708-246-4534 to alert the Village to the situation. You can obtain a No Solicitation decal for your door from the Village Police Department.

8. Does the Village allow refuse and/or dead branches and other yard waste to be burned in residential areas?

No person, firm or corporation is allowed to burn any rubbish, garbage, trash or organic refuse such as tree branches or yard waste anywhere in the village of Indian Head Park.

10. Can cars be parked on the village streets at night?
