The Indian Head Park Police Department will be hosting its first-ever “Citizens Police Academy (CPA)” this winter. The purpose of bringing the CPA to the residents of Indian Head Park is to foster a better understanding between citizens and the police through education. The CPA promotes a better understanding for participants so they may possess greater insight into police practices and the services they provide.
The CPA allows participants the chance to get to know members of their police department, and through this personal contact, better understand how and why officers make the decisions they do. It is the hope that participants become partners with the police department in identifying problems and solutions to crime issues that are affecting our Village. Participants take what they have learned back into their neighborhoods and can use it to enhance the quality of life for everyone.
All participants will be instructed on various topics such as Patrol / Investigation, DUI Enforcement, Traffic Stops, Firearms, SWAT, Drugs, K-9, Gangs, and Terrorism to name a few. Classes will be on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm beginning January 13, 2021, and will conclude on March 17, 2021. Classes will take place at the Village Hall. There is no cost for the program. Participation is limited to Indian Head Park residents and business owners and their employees only. All participants must be 18 years of age or older and must submit to a criminal background check.
Applications may be obtained on the Police Department page of the Village Website or can be picked up directly at the Police Department or Village Hall during normal business hours. If you would like us to email an application to you, please email admin@indianheadpark-il.gov.
