IHPPD Citizens Police Academy Returns January 19th, 2022

Indian Head Park Police Department

Citizens Police Academy

Class #2

Police Chief Steven Stelter would like to announce that the Indian Head Park Police Department will be hosting its second “Citizens Police Academy (CPA)” this winter.  The purpose of bringing the CPA to the residents of Indian Head Park is to foster a better understanding between citizens and the police through education.  The CPA promotes a better understanding to participants so they may possess greater insight into police practices and the services they provide.

The CPA allows participants the chance to get to know members of their police department, and through this personal contact, better understand how and why officers make the decisions they do.  It is the hope that participants become partners with the police department in identifying problems and solutions to crime issues that are affecting our Village.  Participants take what they have learned back into their neighborhoods and can use it to enhance the quality of life for everyone.

All participants will be instructed in various topics such as:  Patrol / Investigation, DUI Enforcement, Traffic Stops, Firearms, SWAT, Drugs, K-9, Gangs and Terrorism to name a few.  Classes will be on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm to 9:30pm beginning January 19, 2022 and will conclude on March 23, 2022.  Classes will take place at the Village Hall.  There is no cost for the program.  Participation is limited to Indian Head Park residents and business owners and their employees only.  All participants must be 18 years of age or older and must submit to a criminal background check. Participation is not limited to a single member of a household, please feel free to attend with a family member, neighbor, etc.

Applications may be obtained on the Police Department page of the Village Website or can be picked up directly at the police department during normal business hours.  Any further information can be directed to Chief Stelter at (708) 246-4534 x112, or
