Repairs required to prevent further deterioration and improve the condition of the infrastructure for motorists
Wolf Road will be closed to thru traffic from 79th Street to Joliet Road while the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (DoTH) makes emergency repairs to Wolf Road over Flag Creek Bridge in the Village of Indian Head Park. The emergency repairs will begin Monday, November 13, 2023. Repairs are projected to take approximately four weeks to complete depending on weather conditions. The road will be closed for the duration of the repairs.
In order to complete the work, the following detours will be in place:
- Southbound Detour: westbound on Plainfield Road, southbound on County Line Road, eastbound on 79th Street
- Northbound Detour: westbound on 79th Street, northbound on County Line Road, eastbound on Plainfield Road
Detour signage also will be in place for drivers utilizing the I-294 exit/entrance ramp for Wolf Road:
- Northbound I-294 detour to southbound Wolf Road via I-55: southbound I-55, southbound County Line Road, Eastbound 79th Street
- Northbound I-294 detour to southbound Wolf Road via Plainfield Road: northbound Wolf Road, westbound on Plainfield Road, southbound on County Line Road, eastbound on 79th Street
- Southbound Wolf Road detour to southbound I-294: southbound I-55, southbound County Line Road, eastbound 79th Street
- Northbound Wolf Road detour to southbound I-294: westbound on 79th Street, northbound on County Line Road, northbound on I-55
The emergency work will consist of repair to the deteriorated concrete header and deck, approach pavement repairs, replacement of preformed joints at pier and abutments, cleaning bridge deck drains and hot mix asphalt repairs at the north and south approach slab and approach slab sidewalks to eliminate bumps due to settlement.
