Law and Code Enforcement
Overview
The Police Department is responsible for the enforcement of local, state, and federal laws in the Village of Indian Head Park and surrounding communities. Find out how the residents of Indian Head Park in conjunction with the Police Department can help ensure a safe community.
Residents and their hired contractors are reminded that many types of work require a building permit in the Village of Indian Head Park. Please refer to the Building Permits webpage for information and the Building Permit application. The building permit should be displayed until all work is finalized and approved by the Village.
During the duration of the construction project residents must display a building permit clearly visible from the street.

Enforcement of Contractor's Licenses

Contractors performing work without obtaining a license will be fined. The Indian Head Park Police Department patrols the village regularly to ensure that only licensed contractors are doing business in the village. Residents are encouraged to verify that the contractors they are hiring are licensed to do business in the village. Residents concerned about unlicensed contractors in their area are encouraged to contact the non-emergency Police Department at 708-245-4534.Enforcement of Municipal Code
The Police Department is the primary Village entity responsible for enforcement of gross Village exterior code violations. However, their activity is a reactive function, meaning that residents must first call the Village regarding perceived code violations in order for our police to be able to inspect and take appropriate action.
