Statement from Chief Alonzo 11/4/11
First, I would like to say that all our hearts go out to the family of Kelli O’Laughlin. The news of this terrible crime has changed the lives of all the residents of Indian Head Park and throughout the surrounding area.
Many law enforcement agencies began working this case from the beginning in hopes of bringing an arrest for this homicide.
I am very thankful for hard work of the Indian Head Park Police Department with the assistance of the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, the Sheriff, State’s Attorney and her staff for their role with the task force, Secret Service for all the investigative assistance and Chicago Law Enforcement agencies as well as the support of all our residents and Village officials.
With this cooperation, we did meet our goal of effecting an arrest for this horrible crime
October 29, 2011
We would like to express our deepest condolences to the O'Laughlin family. Words cannot begin to convey our sorrow. Kelli's murder has shaken our community, our families, and our hearts to their core, and while the sadness we as the people of Indian Head Park and Lyons Township feel cannot be measured against the grief of Kelli's loving family, we all suffered a loss by those brutal acts of Thursday afternoon. Our community joins the O'Laughlins in grieving the loss of their beautiful, bright daughter, who brought joy to everyone around her and had so much to give the world.
In the hours since Kelli's murder, Chief Alonzo and more than 40 officers from the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force have been working non-stop to bring Kelli's killer or killers to justice. Law enforcement officials from neighboring towns and other districts have joined in this investigation. THANK YOU for this outpouring of support. Please know that the Village is grateful to Chief Alonzo and all of these dedicated hard working men and women. The Village of Indian Head Park, the Trustees, and Mayor Andrews stand ready to assist their efforts in any way possible. We will not rest until those responsible for Kelli's murder are caught and prosecuted.
Mayor Richard Andrews and the Trustees of the Village of Indian Head Park, October 29, 2011
October 28, 2011
Our community has been shaken by the activities that occured on October 27. While there are numerous advantages to living in a tight-knit community like Indian Head Park, in times like these it feels as if we've all lost a family member.
We have confidence in our law enforcement officials, working with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, who will see to it that the persons responsible for this horrible act are brought to justice. Likewise, we also have confidence in the strength and resolve of our community to find a way to heal while helping the O'Laughlin family move forward.
We would like to respectfully request that the media and residents of Indian Head Park allow our law enforcement officials to conduct their investigation with minimal interruption and distraction. Please allow the O'Laughlin family the privacy and support they will need to get through this trying time.
